There are a lot of people out there who are very gullible or who just want a pretty little pet to love and don't even have an idea how much they would reasonably cost. If you think $300 is a "free lunch," it's not. That's a lot of money to some people. Some people are lucky to be able to spend that at the grocery store in a month.

Sounds like you think there should be a lot of lesson-learning, and that this "lesson" should come from being scammed out of hard-earned money, just so these people will know not to make the same mistake twice, but that they should make it at least once to learn the lesson. How kind.
