My heart breaks for all of those suffering. I try to get my 12 year old daughter to understand many different ways people and animals are affected by this disaster. The fact that many only have the clothes on their back as their only posessions, clothes that in fact, can not even be washed. The fact that so many are surrounded by water but may have nothing to drink. Also that the water everwhere is becoming contaminated by human and animal carcasses. Where do so many people and animals go that do survive?!? And for so VERY long! We act like we are primitive if we have to go without electricity for 4 hours. I just saw where a woman placed her infant's dead body on a door and let it float away....how very heartbreaking and overwhelming. If only some plan were made so that the people could move a little futher north knowing that others would take them in. Like a foster home for families during this 2 month period that Gulf dwellers can't even get near their home sites. I know that my home would be open to others. The southern states can't possibly take everyone in.
