Yes, youtube is safe. Just don't use the same username/password that you do your banking with. Once you have a video file on your computer, you can easily upload onto youtube. Once a video is on youtube, it has it's own URL.
WordPress is a free blogging site. You can create a free account and instantly start blogging. There is an "add media" option when writing a post (kinda like YorkieTalk). If you chose the video option, you just paste your youtube URL into the spot and your done. I find it very user friendly but would be more than happy to give you step by step instructions if you couldn't figure it out.
One cool think about WordPress is that if you don't want your blog to be viewed by world, you can set a password to it. That way you can share it only with family if you chose and give them the password. If someone else stumbles upon your site, they can't actually look at it. When I have kids, I plan to have a blog just about them to share with family and I will have it password protected.
