The rubberband thing is true but would expose the puppies to infection. They told me not to cut into the black you should leave a little brown on the tip, but people have different opinions about length. Kristi has a good method. I have seen it done where they tie finger bandage around the tail the use forcepts to clamp and twist it off. I guess I prefer my vet get that taken care off I am a big chicken when it comes to things like that....
