Personally, I would never recommend buying a puppy from any pet store. I have learned since I've been on YT that 99% of pups in pet stores are from puppy mills. I didn't know that before I joined YT, so I've been in your friend's shoes. She doesn't want to look at ads on the internet or the newspaper either.
Her best bet is to go with recommendations by other yorkie owners or check the YTCA website for a list of breeders. I can't guarantee all of those, but it's a step in the right direction.
We also have some wonderful breeders here on YT with puppies right now. You might want to ask around.
