Hi everyone! I am new to this site. I just recently bought my first yorkie and of course had to buy 2. Their names are Chewie and Yoda (chewie is the biggest and yoda is the smallest). I have a 110lb yellow lab and the kids wanted something they could snuggle with and hold, which isn't Reno (our lab).
I bought them at 9 weeks old. They were 3.1lbs and 2.7lbs at 12 weeks. I took them today for their 4mos check up and they almost doubled their weight, they are 5.1 and 4.1. Is this normal to gain that much in a month? When I got them from the breeder, she gave me a Eukanuba puppy kit. I had them on that food for the 1st month and they pooped alot. Then they wanted our labs food, which is Purina Dog Chow and wouldn't eat their food anymore. I gradually switched them to Purina Beneful and they ate aggressively for a couple of weeks, pooped less and now they won't eat that. Not sure what to try them on or if I should keep putting out this food and eventually they will eat. I thought maybe the weight gain was from the Purina. Not sure since I can't tell if it is normal to gain almost 2 pounds in a month.
Sorry to ramble on, this breed is new to me since I have always had large breeds: German Shepard, Golden Retriever and Labs.
