Are you ready to jump from one mature dog to 3 dogs, including two puppies? This will mean MAJOR supervision, twice the house training, etc.
If you have the time and energy for two puppies, I'd say go for it.
Also, the other plus to getting two pups is they will have each other's energy to play with, and may be lessl likely to bother your older dog!!!
Way the pros and cons...
1. Cost
2. House Training
3. Energy level of your 8 year old
4. Time
5. Grooming expense for 3 dogs!
etc...
I know myself...I wouldn't be able to resist and I'd get them both...
