I have plastic...we keep one downstairs and one upstairs on a nightstand next to our bed. I also use an xpen downstairs for when i cant watch her but dont necessarily want her to be in a crate. She has her potty papers in there and toys, water, and a bed. It has worked well for us that way with both Oliver, when he was little, and with Brooklyn. Brooklyn doesnt spend a lot of time in her xpen anymore as the pottying outside is doing well. (we have a doggie door) Good luck and congratulations on your pup!
