Not necessarily. My vet, who is excellent with Yorkies, recommends they go to their new homes at 8 weeks. That is when they start to bond to people and he believes they need to be in their new home, not with me and their mom. I personally keep them to 10 weeks, but I sure have their new parents visiting by 6-8 weeks if at all possible to help the bonding process.
