I agree, animals live in the moment they do not dwell on the past (thank god). Anyone who feels that their animal fears from what happened in the past, unless it was physical abuse, is anthropomorphizing (applying human emotions). Count your blessings that they do not harbor the feelings of the past that we do. If you show them love, companionship and support that is what they will remember.
