I think you probably don't have the new songs in the folder that your ipod is syncing to. On the left side of iTunes you should see your ipod listed. Click your iPod and try to find what folder it syncs to. Then "drag" those songs into the correct folder. I use and iPhone so I cannot give you step by step directions on what to do since it would be slightly different.

There may even be a "manually manage music and videos" option you can check. If you do this, then you can drag those songs directly to your iPod.
