Thanks for all the responses!!! I found it funny that everyone mentioned kids doing this but in both cases it was full grown adult men and women who pick up Abbey and smothered her.
The first was when I first got her and she was only a few wweeks old and about 1.5 pounds. Some lady grabbed her I was shocked, in disbelief, I didn't know if she was going to steal her. Ugh, but that was in El Paso (and sorry to offend anyone from there) but in general, people are REALLY rude there.
Also...A lot of you said your dogs shy away from strangers well Abbey is the complete opposite, she LOVES new people. When she sees someone new she wiggles and run to them and even pees out of excitement! For a stranger!! Like when I took her to the vet the other day, it was a new vet and when we walked in she saw the people in there and went nuts, squirming and "smiling." I don't know if this is a good or bad thing.
I'm just going to be firm with people from now on bc even though she is cute, I want to be able to take her places without getting swarmed. I just try not to look at people.
Thanks for the advice!!
