Question......what is the proper

way of telling if a watermelon is good?
I remember last year, we picked up one from a road side stand...cut into the next day and it was rotten inside (gushy, smelly, gross).
AND do you keep yours in the refrig. until you are ready to cut into it?
Anyone have any good watermelon recipes....(not to get too far off topic)...but now I am craving a good watermelon!!!
