I GET IT just fine Kimberly. There is no need to be so defensive. I never said that every referral or mentor relationship was that of a broker....I just said that SOME are and there is nothing wrong with it. Most people who saw puppies from another breeder on a website would assume that there is some business realtionship there.

I also did not infer that ALL mentor relationships involve brokering...I simply used that relationship as an example of one where I know from personal experience that it does happen.

Another example of a broker in the puppy business is the large websites like DivaPup that are primarily advertising vehicles for breeders and the broker has the large, well known and flashy website and the breeders of all different breeds pay DivaPUp to advertise on their site and DivaPup gets a commission if the puppy is sold through exposure on their site. The breeder still maintains complete control of the puppy and the buyer talks diectly to the breeder about the puppy but the broker handles the contract and the money exchange.

I know a lot of people on here do not like DivaPup because of some negative stories on the internet, but I have had no real experience with them and I am not referring people to them but merely using them as an example of a broker where the breeder doesn't lose the control over the terms of the sale and who the dog goes to and what information they receive about the puppy and his parents.

All of my examples fit the definition of a broker.
