I make up a huge batch to last 4 or 5 weeks. I don't use chicken or turkey. Instead this is my favorite way to make up: I use about 8 pounds of different meat, such as 4 pounds of bison, 2 pounds of ground lamb and 2 pounds of calf liver. (the bison and lamb have no hormones or chemicles added) I boil the liver, drain and let it get very cold before grounding in the food processer. I cook 3 cups of brown rice with 1 cup of lentils and 1 cup of split peas till crisp tender then drain and rinse in cold water and drain again. I steam very quickly a large head of broccoli and put directly in the freezer to stop the cooking and to cool fast. (It goes in the processer too. I finely chop 8 fresh carrots in the processer. I cook the rest of the meats in a large skillet. I also put the meats in the processer till chopped small. You will need a BIG pot to put it all in so you can properly mix it. I put this in 1 qt. zip-loc freezer bags and freeze.
They get either 1/8 cup twice daily with 1/4 boiled egg and a little oatmeal mixed into it for breakfast and 1/8th cup with some fish and cheese for dinner. (Both meals should total 1/4 cup each) If I don't add anything to this mix, I then use 1/4 cup.
This may sound like too much to bother with for some of you, but it isn't, and it's for a very special cause.
