Dezi has always had a "sensitive" stomach and can't eat anything but her dry food and greenies lil bits as tiny treats or she can suffer from diarrhea and/or vomiting. Sometimes it lasts for a day or two but she is on day 4 now. She vomited once a day for two days and has had diarrhea for two more. She has lots of noises coming from her belly that I hear when she climbs onto my shoulder which is where she lays when she doesn't feel good. She is eating now but wasn't yesterday.
This happens every few months and current vet says it's irritable bowel. I can accept that and stress seems to bring it on but it takes about 2-3 days after a stressful event for it to appear.
She eats Canaday chicken and rice. I gave her boiled hamburger and rice today for the first time and she had more diarrhea a few hours after. Does this sound right? I am changing vets soon and looking forward to a new view. Any help?
I'm still new at this myself but with my picky puppy I've learned a few things. Plain or Vanilla lowfat yogurt can settle her stomach - just a teaspoon. Perhaps the hamburger was too fatty? I feed Maggie boiled chicken with rice and carrots and if she plays too soon after eating or if we take a drive too soon after eating, she'll vomit.
Also, I don't know for sure but I had heard that Pepto contained asprin and it shouldn't be given to really small dogs.
I'm so sorry Dezi is having this issue - I know how it feels to look at your baby and wish you could just make her better
