Default Question on Yorkies escaping their crates.

To make a long story short......I went home for lunch took roscoe out to do his business, took him back in we played we ate I took him out again then put him in his cage....and CLOSED THE CAGE TIGHTLY......when my GF came home from work 4hrs later.....she opened the door and was greeted by a happy little puppy who ESCAPED!!!!!! his crate....he pooped and peed on his pee pad (which he rarely does cause we take him outside) and he must have taken his favoirte toys out of the basket cause she said they were every where......and he was probably just hanging out feeling like King of the world.......so glad nothing bad happened and i feel like a proud parent that he did his business on the pad....but my questions is whether or not anyone else has experienced this?
