mix the old food with the new but every time mix less of the old food until its completely new food

wow 2 cups/day? i dont think my dog eats t hat much... we just leave a bowl of his dry food and he eats it whenever he's hungry

edit: oops i thought it said how not when lol
i'd ask the vet... when my dog was growing up they didnt have puppy foods (i dont think) but either way he's been eating his d/d diet from the vets since 9 months until now (for 10yrs)
