For example, you seem to think the major trait to be breeding for is small size, this is just one of many traits, and I believe it's the least important and the most detrimental to the breed. I suggest you start by attending dog shows if you haven't already, and like the others have suggested, find a mentor. The biggest mistake you can make is to feel like you have done all the research necessary. You will learn that breeding yorkies the right way isn't a great money making opportunity, in fact many breeders are lucky to break even. A good breeder breeds because he truly desires to improve the breed. There should be no other reason for breeding. |
