I am going through this with one of my boys right now. He was fine last weekend, last monday I get home from work and he had diarrhea bad and threw up a few times also. I called the vet Tuesday morning and got an appt. I went to work for 1/2 a day, got home and he had diarrhea again EVERYWHERE. Took him in and the vet did take a sample and did a rectal exam etc. Nothing was found wrong. He had no parasites or anything. She put him on 2 antibiotics and told me to boil rice and turkey burger 4/1 ratio and give it to him 2x a day until he has a solid poop. If he throws up again bring him back right away. That was all last tuesday night. By thursday I was concerned that he had not had a bowel movement at all, so I called the vet and asked if that was ok, she said he was probably emptied out, that he should have one the next day at the latest and it sounds like it will be solid. Well he has not thrown up again, but I get home friday and same thing you said, my kitchen looked like texas chainsaw massacre. He went poo, but it was not solid. It was not completely liquid though either. It was bloody and almost jelly like. I was freaking.. he threw up again and then pooped again in the car. I was going to rush him into the emergency clinic but he was eating and drinking and active and alert and already on 2 antibiotics. So I decided to watch him and hold off. This was friday night. He was fine through the weekend, but I dont think hes had a bowel movement since friday.
My poor baby! If I dont see improvement tonight he'll be back at the vets tomorrow. Ive been diligent in giving him his meds and keep him hydrated, cool and comfortable (we are in the middle of a heat wave here) so I hope & pray that I see a normal movement today.
