Yes, males can be aggressive toward puppies. I know one lady who's male killed young puppies that were around 3 or 4 months old. My males snap at the puppies to make them stay away so as a generally rule I never let the puppies around the males until they are older. Female dogs generally are good around puppies but there can be a situation where one female might try to steal a newborn from it's momma and the two females could get in a fight over the puppies and the puppies could get killed. One of my concerns when letting puppies around adults is that some adults tend to play too rough so you really have to be careful who you let near the puppies. Some females will also really snap at puppies because newly weaned puppies will try to nurse any female and that can get them into trouble.
