I totally agree and do not agree with the pee pad, basically you are teaching them it is ok to go inside. I had no trouble teaching Rambeau to go outside. It takes consistency and patience and time. Always use the same door, the same routine, do it often and bring them to the same spot so the smell entices them to go. Do not clean up poop all of the time always leave some. This will become their routine and their brain will trigger. Rambeau is like a robot, if I had to collect pee or poop I would have no problem. It is true as they get older their ability to hold it is better. The muscles of the sphincters become stronger, the bladder larger and more resilient. If they mess in their kennel or the floor just clean it up. If you catch them just repeat the routine you have been practicing. I have never used a command. I do ask if he has to pee and he gives me that cute little yorkie cock of the head.
