Because the Heartgard PLUS can't be split (because the drug is injected unevenly into it) I just assumed none of them should be split. I would give Ellie the safeheart dose (Novartis doesn't really support this) but that would only work if she was a big dog because the safe heart dose I believe is the 2-10 pound pill just used for 50 pound dogs. So, one isn't made that is small enough for her in the safeheart system.
Heartgard is an even bigger overdose. That is horrible. I don't know what to do but I have a BIG problem giving her 5x what she needs. If I do this for 6 months a year that is 30x what she needs.
I was looking into Tri-Heart and Iverheart but they add Pyrantel.
