I agree that potty training is item number one on the training to-do list. By three months, your dog should have the smarts to do sit, down, stay, and some other basic commands. How quickly they learn is really just a function of how often you train them and how consistent you are in your technique.
I have trained a few dogs (though I'm in the process of training my first Yorkie puppy). I was taught (and am a big believer in) the nothing-comes-free training technique, where EVERY possible thing your dog likes can be withheld until he or she executes a command. For example, have him sit before he gets every meal, have him lay down before he goes into his favorite room, have him sit and stay before he gets his favorite toy. Not only does this help to not fill him up on treats as you train him, it also helps to assert your dominance over him. |
