~ just in case I repeat myself in this Thread or left anything out... this is the 3rd time I've type this message tonight and every time I send it, my Modem crashes!!! Uhhgga!
First of all, I'm very sorry... I really thought that I updated this Thread... but after reading all of your wonderful unread replies. I noticed I didn't send all my wonderful YT friends an update. I'm so very sorry!
It has been a very crazy week together! She has only been with us for 9 days and just wait until you hear what she has been through so far! I feel so bad for her.
We went to our Breeders on Sunday, May 25 and the minute we saw Lola we fell in love with her. Then we looked at the cute little 7 week old baby-boys that came from LeiLani's litter and I felt nothing! I felt bad that the only feeling I had was sad ones. I had no feelings for them. I was very surprised... because they were so very cute with their puppy breath and every thing. All I want to do, was get back and see Lola... who was in another room. We visited for 3-4 hours before we got the kennel and gifts we purchased for her, from the car.
She is a 4 year 10 month old female who is a retired show dog. And now she is going to be my new baby. I love her so much already!
We made the long drive back home and stopped at The Petco Store to get a larger harness for her. The only one we had was for a small puppy. She got all kinds new presents and fun stuff while we were there.
Once we got home we introduced her to our other kids. She was so patient with them. She had lived with cats so she didn't care about them at all. It was such a relief. No cat fights.
I brushed her out and got her into her PJ's and then went to brush her teeth. That is when I found out why she wasn't eating very much lately. Her very last mauler was so loose it was hanging from her gums. It was Sunday night and tomorrow was Monday but it was the a three day weekend so the Vets Office was closed. I called first thing Tuesday and spoke with my Vet. She said we should schedule her for her Dental Surgery and Spay at the same time. This was fine for me... because I didn't want to put her under Anesthesia twice. Well, Wednesday's Surgery Schedule was full so we had to go in on Thursday. We went in first thing for an exam and then I had to leave her there. We had only had her for 4 days. I really wanted to wait until she was more comfortable with us but I didn't have a choice. She had to be able to eat.
My Breeder said Lola had only been back home with them for the past 2 weeks and she was not eating well either, ever since she was back. This was why.... her poor mouth was hurting her. I almost didn't see the broken tooth myself... it was in the very... very... back top.
I called the Vet as soon as her Surgery was over and they found 4 teeth that needed to come out. I was so sad!!!

She must have been in so much pain!
The Vet said I would be able to pick her up a 4pm and when we got home I just crawled into bed with her while she slept. She was so sad and she was so very drowsy

but she also was in so much pain. They gave us pain medications to take home. I think the dose was way to high for her. I started lowering it as I watched her response and we finally came to a happy medium. No pain, and my little girl was not to high!
So finally her pain started to go away as the days went by and the follow Monday came around (4 days after surgery). I had to get the little lazy butt out of bed that day! It was almost 12:30 in the afternoon!! That's when I noticed that her Onesie was not snapped in the middle of her legs. Not to mention there was "9 babies" in the bed that were not there when we went to sleep the night before. So as I removed her Onesie and started to clean and look at her wound... I noticed she had been up all night licking it to death. She was dripping in spit! She had licked off almost all of the glue that was holding her wound closed.
I called the Vets Office and they could see us immediately. When I brought her in the exam room I asked Lola, "Can mommy see the babies belly" when I was showing the Doctor the missing glue, I noticed a bump that I didn't see earlier that morning. It was like a small size marble bump right next to her wound. "Is that a Hernia!" I yelled out to the Doctor. "Yes I think it is!" Let me see. She pushed on it and waited and then said let me take her in the back for a minute. "Oh No! What does this mean? Does she need more surgery?" Well let me take her into the back and glue her tummy back together and see if the bump goes away while she is here. She brought her back and looked her over. Then she took her temp and asked Lola "Can I see the babies belly" Lola flips over as fast as she could to show off her belly... and there it was again. The bump came right back! "OH, NO!"
So this is why the little $hit slept in so late Monday afternoon. She was up playing all night! She was suppose to be resting and taking it easy.
My Doctor looked at her schedule and put her down for tomorrow morning (Wednesday or should I say today). Insomnia Sucks! but I'm glad I have a little snuggle bug sleeping on my lap to keep me company.
So if every one is keeping tract that's one Spay Surgery, a Dental Surgery with 4 teeth removed and one Hernia Surgery all in the first 9 days of being home with us in a new city, new home and living with new siblings. I'm so sad for her! I wish I could take her pain away. I wanted her homecoming to be joyful for her not full of pain! She has been such a little trouper, she is still showing us so much love. My husband told me over dinner tonight he woke-up with her cleaning his eyes, nose, forehead and ears. That's funny she woke me up the same way! What a little lick-a-lot! Just full of love.
I purchased a baby-gate for the bedroom door today. So there will be no more going back and forth at night to collect babies from the living-room. I thought she was in bed sleeping all night... not running back and forth... from the living-room... to the bedroom with lots of babies... that she stole from our kitties toy box. Up and down, Up and down the (bed)stairs and back into the living-room to get another toy. I sure hope she was using her stairs on the way down from the bed. I'm sure she wasn't.
What a little thief she is! She has stolen 9 babies... one for each day she has been with us.
So all of the babies have been put up very high. I did let her have two of them for her to cuddle with tonight... but they are very small.
So tomorrow we will get up early and go thew it all over again. So I will not be on-line for a couple of days. I just want to give her my full attention when she is not feeling well.
I will chat with all of you when she is feeling better. Again, I'm very sorry I didn't keep you all up to date on what was going on. I really thought I updated this Thread. I guess I had a lot on my mind this past week.
Good luck to my Little Lola Bean! and we will talk with you all very soon.
