He is asking for $200. There was a picture. It was on a craigslist type thing. I e-mailed him out of curiosity and hopeful it was real. He sais the puppy was a gift from his wife from a breeder, is AKC registered, comes with health guarantee, calm temperament, likes to sit on lap and watch TV, gets along with their cat and Rottie. They need to move and can't take the pets. Didn't mention anything about hte other two though. He asked for a description of my home and environment. I was not too specific as I did not want to give too much info. Simply said my work schedule, kind of neighborhood I live in, number of children I have and fenced yard. He said it sounded ok. didn't say much except that and the $200 rehoming fee plus $100 for the plane- which I'm not crazy about. the baby is 2.5 lbs, and expected to be about 5 full grown. My Sammy is 10 lbs. Anyway, I e-mailed him with a bunch of questions. What happens if she gets sick, provide copies of vaccination and vet receipts, akc papers, how to handle exchange of money, asked about "shipping" the puppy. She's in Iowa. I asked for picture and what kind of food she's on, just to see what he'd say.
I think I asked the right things. It sounds legal to me, what about you guys. I need some opinions. My husband said we could have another one, which I was shocked at, so I'm exploring the opportunity. |
What is other "domes"? I would sure do a lot more checking before I sent any money. Ask him to send you a picture of the pup next to a today's Iowa newspaper, or ask if it is available for pick up instead of shipping. If it's not legit they won't do either.
Puppies are usually shipped cargo in a plane and I believe it costs more than $100. Not sure though, but I know most breeders charge $200 to $250 or something.
I see there is a phone number. Did you talk to him on the phone? Google the number and see if it matches area, name, etc.
