My puppy is almost the same age. When she bites at me I say "No bite." and use an authoritative voice. Also, sometimes I whine like she hurt me real bad (sometimes I'm not pretending!!)

And, if those don't work, I (very gently) give her a tap on the nose with my finger. Just enough to get her attention.

It seems to be working and she is really understanding I think. She play bites softly, and that is o.k., and only when she is really hyped up does she bite harder, but then I just say no bite and she gets the point most times.

I am a firm believer that you have to be a teacher to your puppy early on....they need to learn what behavior is acceptable and what is not. Same thing goes for barking (yapping!!) I just say "no bark" and "ssshhhhh!!!!" No tapping on this, just voice command. She's catching on to that as well.

These dogs are very smart, they just need a little instruction so they know what do do!
