How old is your pup?

If you want to have him sleep with you, you have to consider that he may not get a sound night sleep if you tend to be active while sleeping. And if so, each time he wakes from a sleep, he may have the urge to go potty and if he's too young, he may not have figured out he has to tell you so.

It's best to have him sleep wherever he can readily find his potty pad (if you are wanting to even still use that method of training) until he's got it down pat and is a little older. Then you can have him sleep in bed with you, once he's sleeping through the night on his own.

A baby monitor is always a great idea if you're wanting to actually wake up when he does in an attempt to take him outside rather than use the potty pads. He'll learn that making a noise elicits a responce from you to go outside to potty and will begin to ask to go, rather than just going.
