WHat I did when I picked up Snickers he was 12 weeks. i picked him up and kept him on my lap during the drive to the house.
He was a little nervous too.
When we got home i made him walk in a small area not to big..
and then let him sleep alot..
I made a crate for him and kept it next to my bed ... cause i didnt had a crate at that day.
I wont buy a collar,. but i would buy a harness that much better for him.. cause they r so tiny..
I will let him use to the harness when he is adjusted to his new home..
And thej put it on for a few minutes to see how he respond..
if he dont mind you dont really have to leave it on, but only put it on when you go for a walk..
You can also put a t-shirt with your smell in his crate or bed..
And make sure he is near you when you go to bed.
I will go out with him after he plays, sleeps or when he walks in circles.. ( most of the time they need to do poop then)
Before you give him his food, make sure you walk him before hand. its better for the stomach, when you walk him straight after he will run and its not good when he just ate.
Some people walk them after dinner, but i never done it..
Make sure his food have the time to settle down.
Snicker started to peep a little when he needed to potty in the night the first weeks..
so soon as he is awake pick him up and put him outside and praise him loud and give him a treat when he does it outside !
Good luck with your new puppy.
and let us know how it went.
love priscilla and snickers

Do I put him in his carrier in the car to come home? I was planning on it, but I've also read not to force him to go in there. Maybe he'll just crawl right in, I don't know...

Then when we get him home, do we let him explore the house or keep him in one area at first? I don't want him to be overwhelmed.

Do I put a collar and a leash on him right away? What size collar? How long of a leash? He's only going to be 11 weeks.

I don't know if he's started any potty training or not. I've read some books on that but I'm not sure if he's really old enough to start. Should we just plan on taking him out about once an hour? Can he go all night without going potty?

Thanks a lot. I know that's a lot of questions!
