Default what to do the first night?

We've never had a puppy before and our yorkie is coming home on Thursday. Any advice on how to handle the very first night? We will probably pick him up about 6:00 p.m. after work. Do I put him in his carrier in the car to come home? I was planning on it, but I've also read not to force him to go in there. Maybe he'll just crawl right in, I don't know...

Then when we get him home, do we let him explore the house or keep him in one area at first? I don't want him to be overwhelmed.

Do I put a collar and a leash on him right away? What size collar? How long of a leash? He's only going to be 11 weeks.

I don't know if he's started any potty training or not. I've read some books on that but I'm not sure if he's really old enough to start. Should we just plan on taking him out about once an hour? Can he go all night without going potty?

Thanks a lot. I know that's a lot of questions!
