Have you tried using something other than the slicker brush? I have heard that is not good to use on a Yorkie coat? I think it breaks the hair. I'm not sure, but we've never used one on the furbuts. I think you could get more help and suggestions in the grooming section. I second the suggestion to use Ice on Ice when brushing, it really works well.
