I just found this post, and am wondering what you decided.
All Yorkies are adorable, fiesty, etc.
As info., my first and only Yorkie, so far, (they are addictive) was two years old when I purchased her. The breeder retired her after having two litters, because she just about died with the second litter. Only two puppies survived the second litter.
My intention was to purchase a puppy, but when the breeder emailed me and said she had an adult for purchase, I saw her pic and thought she was beautiful.
I decided to go and see her, and instantly fell in love with this little bundle which weighs 5.5 lbs., and she is going to be six years young in July.
My Mom said to run to Walmart the night before and get a crate, leish, collar, etc., (as info., please don't use collars - use harnesses), just in case I decided to take her. Mom knew once I saw her it would all be history.
These darlings are so affectionate and you will be hooked instantly.
Who knows, once you see the five-year old Yorkie, maybe you both will have found what you wanted.
I did miss her growing up years, but I did not miss the potty training, ruined carpets, chewing episodes, etc.
Good luck in your search, and do keep up posted.
I am very sorry for your loss.
