Even if you are married....it's not your spouse's inheritance. As long as you keep it in your name only...no joint accounts your spouse can not lay claim to it.
And as someone who has received inheritances....trust me...it's money you do NOT want. I'll give all mine back....in exchange for the people it cost me.
