It's really interesting how vet advice can differ from one to the other (kinda like doctors, huh?) -- anyway, I was told by my vet not to let Sandy (who is bigger - over 10 pounds) go for more than a day without eating. I was also told it was safe to bathe her twice a week as long as I use a high quality shampoo and conditioner. (She gets dirty a lot) -- Sometimes I do bathe her twice a week and sometimes once, and not one skin problem, and the ones she came to us with are now gone. When my vet saw Tia and I asked about bathing, he said once a week is fine.

I can't imagine letting a small dog go for four days without food, maybe they can LIVE that long without it but it certainly doesn't sound healthy. I would be careful with following that advice.
