ugh..this is such a testy subject........ i`m dealing with something similar myself

Okay... so we have an xpen..our girls have it great... its like a mini bedroom for a princess... very cute... very fuzzy..very pink. They love it in their xpen.

However, as I started fulltime back in January, I would be gone during the days, and to bond with them, I bought a special blanky for them which I`d set up on the sofa, and the girls would sit on it and watch tv with me in the evenings when i got home. Now its become a nightly ritual. The second its 9pm, Jaya is up looking for that blanky and wanting to settle down for the night. She knows the rules though - after a while I simply pick her up and put her on her own bed in the xpen, and she is fine. However, if they do not get their time on the sofa, and i simply put them in their beds - they can`t sleep and howl and scream to be let out.

I don`t have any problem with letting them be on the sofa with me....... its just that everybody else in the house does. My hubby gets super annoyed and starts in on the whole `you are giving them bad habits! and its going to make life difficult for everyone else and dogs shudnt be on sofas!`

And I guess it does make life difficult for everyone else....... I was visiting my parents last month for a week, and I left the girls at home with my hubby, and they howled and screamed every single night..... he was forced to do my nightly ritual with them...

It just really bothers him that we are now tied to doing this `habit`with them... and he thinks I am totally spoiling them

*shrugs*.......... it is just as important to me to snuggle with them in the evening, so i am okay with it. And to tell you the truth, I am just as much dependent on that time with them as they are with me.

If you and your gf are okay doing this -then I see nothing wrong with it. Its honestly a bonding time, and its comforting to both you and the pup.
