We got a 3 yr old dog once named Sea Bass as in the fish??? We changed his name to Sheamas. It can be done. But if the name you want is very different then use a double barrel name for a while eg Bimbo-Kizzy then swap them round after a short while; Kizzy-Bimbo then when she is used to it just drop the name Bimbo!
