I took Lucy for her yearly vaccinations a couple of weeks ago and was holding my breath about her weight.

At her last visit, she weighed 13 lbs even. This time, she weighed 11.9 oz. Our vet was thrilled! He said most of the time people don't listen to him when he tells them their baby is chunky and that it's as bad for a dog to be obese as it is for a human.

His suggestions have worked for us: No treats from the table, measure the food out twice daily, and dog treats only in tiny amounts.

I use YorkieYummies from ChattiesMom. Lucy and Rebel both love them and they're small enough that I don't worry about giving them too much at a time.

They get 2 each when I leave every morning for work and 2 in the evening when we're playing.
