Hi, I am so excited for you and the upcoming baby. I know how excited you are. I am going the weekend of June 20 to NC to the breeder from Virginia to get my first female yorkie, born April 12. She will be about 10 weeks old and he would not allow them to leave any earlier than that. We have bought everything under the sun for this new little one. My nineteen yr. old twin girls are about as excited as me. They even bought her a little Bikini, can you imagine? This breeder is so good and has bred little dog breeds for about 30 years and has many good praises. I also have two 8yr. old Bichon Frises sisters who I purchased from him when they were babies. Just today the breeder sent me the first pictures of the baby and she is adorable. We also have a few fat lazy housecats and my daughter has two cockatiels. They are in the cage most of the time but occasionally she lets them out and they have never seemed bothered by the cats, who are declawed by the way, and the dogs just don't know what to think of them. Someone is always close by but I know the birds will try and defend themselves if the cats should become too close. I would not worry too much if I were you. Just take it a little bit at a time and intruduce the puppy to the birds a little at a time. Congragulations on your baby, I know how excited you are. I am so excited, I feel as if I am having another baby myself and like I said my twin girls are 19 and my son is 17. I think it is time for a new baby but this time it will be a four legger. Actually I think I am expieriencing the "empty nest syndrome". My girls still live at home. We are so very close but these days I don't get to see too much of them. They work full time during the day and attend college in the evenings for nursing school. They do not get home til very late. I need something new in my life. Good Luck to you and please let me know how it goes
