 IF you could start over
What would you do? I was reading a different thread which inspired me to ask this question. In terms of setting rules for yourself, and way to discipline/reward your puppy, knowing what you know now, what would you do. Or maybe you did everything right the first time, share your strategy too! I think this could turn into a really helpful guideline for new puppy owners. I'll start:
I wouldn't encourage a new pups 'cute' barks.
I would focus on socialization much more and not show my fears of other dogs to my puppy.
I would work on recall and trust as a young pup (he still won't come if he sneaks out of the front door)
I wouldn't make a big deal about leaving him (I don't know if this contributed to his separation anxiety)
My list could go on...
Let's build a helpful list, people can maybe learn from others mistakes and learn from good advice! |
