He's CUTE!! I've heard of people having "pet" turtles that just hung out in the backyard. These were turtles that originally came from the wild. What if you kept him in the little area he is now, since it's still partially in your backyard, until he got used to you? Then you could let him roam your backyard. If you feed him, I'm sure he'd stick around. He'd probably like it a lot more in the backyard vs. a cage. Just a thought.
