I have used Cerenia on my little Jersey - normally he can't even go to the store without throwing up. Cerenia was great. He rode for over two hours and didn't have any problems. He wasn't sleepy either.
The front seat makes perfect sense - there is less side to side movement up there than in the back. Also they can see the horizon, which helps keep them steadier, so less motion.
My vet highly recommends Cerenia, it is related to the drugs they give cancer patients for nausea.
