I always pick up my girls when if I even see another dog, big or small. I am super protective of my babies and really don't mind explaining to other people that my babies are fragile and can be easily hurt. For that matter, I pick up my girls whenever a small child approaches. I just don't take chances.
Shortly after Diva was breed to Tucker, his owner called crying to tell us that he was hurt. Apparently she was visiting her Aunt in Louisianna and the neighbor's German Shepard that had never seemed the least bit aggressive to Tucker, attacked him. Tucker was seriously injured and had to have his chest cavity repaired. Thankfully Tucker pulled through and is doing fine, but it was touch and go for a while.
It's like reminding your children to put on a seat belt in the car, even if you've never had a car accident. You just don't take chances with the ones you love. |
