I just found the figures from Dr. Tobias' study....and 2.9% of Yorkshire Terriers studied had LS. (483 out of over 16,000) Interestingly, the population studied was dogs seen in veterinary teaching hospitals. (Dogs referred there because they are already sick.) So, as the study states, these figures do not accurately represent the general population. I really don't see how this study could be remotely accurate in predicting the incidence in the general population. However, it definitely does serve its purpose in indicating a predisposition in certain breeds, and the need for further research.
