I don't think this necessarily contradicts her vet. She said less than 5% of Yorkies have LS. The figure you are quoting is that Yorkies are 36 times more likely than all other breeds to have LS. The two figures are referring to two different calculations entirely.

Both could be correct, because the incidence of liver shunt in other breeds combined is low. So, for example, if Yorkies are 36 times more likely than other breeds to have LS.....and other breeds have LS 1 in 1000.....then the 5% figure could actually be a little high. (I do not know the actual numbers involved in the study, just giving an example of how both figures could be correct.)
