Coccidia is a single cell bacterial infection in the intestines. I first thought it was from puppies eating poo but have found out that any number of things may bring it on, more commonly stress or a change in food. The most common symptom is diarrhea that can be bloody if it goes on for a bit. It's not serious if treated early and the usual treatment is Albon for a few days. I give my puppies a 'just in case' treatment for it a couple of weeks after starting to eat kibble. Like anything else, it can be serious if left untreated but it's fairly common and easily treatable in most cases but some stubborn cases may require a longer treatment.
