My puppy was like that too when I first brought her home. DON'T WORRY. He is just scared and has never been away from his momma. Give him time to adjust. Soon, you will be his whole world. Just play with hm often, take him ou ad inroduce him to lots of new sounds, people, places, things, and smells so he is well adjusted. Pet him and make him feel secure with you.

As far as crying in the crate---ugh, that is just part of having a new pup. But here are some things that helped me: first off, getting a crate was a good idea, put him in when it is time for bed an if he starts to cry, gently bang the top of the crate and say "NO, SLEEP." Whatever you do, DO NOT take him out of the crate everytime he crys. That just shows him that crying gets him what he wants and he will do it more. I also put a ticking clock in with Abbey to stmulate a heartbeat and that helped. Afer many sleepless nights I went and got Abbey a crate and she cried in it too and after do the "NO SLEEP!" thing, she slept through the night---no problem!! I hope it works for you.
