Everyone and the hotels are OK with this....I'm an event planner and trust me...I've called many times hotels 24 hours prior to cancel a room with no problems whatsoever. I would make the reservation even if you are slightly thinking about attending since you can always cancel a room vs. getting a room after the cut-off date!!
