Thanks to everyone for the kind words. They are very comforting. I'd been meaning to answer some PMs and update some people earlier, but just never had the time.

The surgeon who will be seeing her for a while recommended Mederma several times a day. (And let me tell you...that stuff is EXPENSIVE! $25 for a little bitty tube that you have to use several times a day!) He said the most important thing we can do now is to make sure she has a little sun exposure as possible--none ideally. So she is NOT too happy about that! He said it could cause damage and leave it a dark purple that cannot be corrected. He is pretty optomistic that over time it will heal and she won't need surgery...so it's just a waiting game now I supppose.

Right now it's just that fresh scar dark pink color. I think we're all just frustrated because it's to the point that there is no noticeable, day to day improvement.

As for the dog, the owners still have it. Let me just take this time to say that the coordinated efforts of the county health dept and the hospital SUCK in this county and no one did what they were 'supposed' to do given the circumstances. I would go into the details about the whole situation as it currently stands, but really can't at this time. (For legal reasons.) There are alot of things in limbo right now.

But in short, no, she never sees it and never will again. Nor do I, nor will my husband.
