Hi, I just found this thread. How fun for everyone watching for babies!
I notice that the pups "drop" and the hip area looks really skinny, just a few days before whelp.
I also found that the temp goes down for several days, and then goes back up again and when it goes down again, supposed to have babies usually within 24 hours. However, the temp thing made me crazy too, so stopped doing it. Does she have milk?
KY does help with getting one out. I squirt a 3cc syringe full up into her and then use a glove and spread it around. If you have to pull, pull down, towards her belly with contractions. I also use paper towels to grab the baby, so they're not so slick.
I syringe feed if needed instead of a dropper, the drops were too big for a tiny, and I have more control with a syringe. I know that you have lots of phone numbers, but feel free to call me at any time too, if others can't be reached. It helps to have someone on the other end letting you know it is OK.
Mine don't chew, but lick their legs too. I think it is a way of taking their mind off of being scared.
She should shake and shiver for being scared just before labor starts. She may run to you really scared. It is time when that happens. All of mine do that, even seasoned breeders.
Hope I didn't overwhelm you, but I think she is close and I just got on board.
Thinking good thoughts for a stress free delivery!
You can call me too, if you want. 660-686-3330 at any time.
It will be all over with in a few days, and you'll do fine. Trouble is, you're going to be exhausted before the all nighter having babies... Welcome to the club, lol
