We crate trained Max but since your baby was already trained that it's okay for him to go in his crate...poor baby. Max wouldn't go in his crate and as soon as we took him out we would put him on his puppy pad until he went potty and then we would reward him with a treat. Sometimes you have to wait a while. Then we started taking his puppy pad outside and putting it on the grass because he would also hold it in until we got inside to go on the puppy pad. I would stay outside forever and he'd hold it until we got in. It took 1 day for puppy pad training and 6 months for outside. It took a great deal of patience and persistence. I also only rewarded him if he went outside after a while and not for going on the puppy pad so he would choose outside over inside. Now, he only goes outside and totally ignores his puppy pad. I'm not really sure why I keep one down.
